Vantabean is operated by VEDØY VENTURES, Norwegian organisation number 933 383 571. By using Vantabean, you agree to use the service responsibly and to follow these terms.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity performed through your account. You must provide an email address you control and must not impersonate another person or claim a username that misleads others.
Your photos and ownership
You retain ownership of photos you upload. When you choose to share an image with Vantabean’s public coffee database, you grant Vantabean a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, process, resize, moderate and display that image for operating and promoting the Vantabean service. The licence ends when the image is permanently removed from the service, except for limited retention required for legal claims, audit records, backups and abuse prevention.
Your confirmation
You must have the necessary rights before sharing an image publicly. You must truthfully select whether you took the image yourself, received permission from the rights holder, or are uploading an official image for a verified roastery. “Found on the internet” is not a valid source. Do not upload product images copied from a roastery website, online shop, Instagram, Google or another website without documented permission.
If permission was granted, you must provide accurate information about who granted it and the scope of the permission. You must also have permission from identifiable people shown in an image when required by law.
Private and public images
An image kept private on your account is not published in the shared database. An image submitted for public use starts as pending and may be checked automatically or manually. Gallery uploads may receive additional review. Vantabean may reject, hide, replace or remove any image, including after publication.
Roastery images
Only verified roastery accounts may identify an upload as an official roastery image. The account must confirm the permission, permitted uses, agreement version, person granting permission, date and any expiry date. Verification does not transfer ownership to Vantabean.
Reports and removal
Anyone may report a public image. Credible copyright reports may cause temporary hiding while the matter is reviewed. Vantabean may preserve the image and related logs internally for handling the report. An image can be replaced without deleting the underlying coffee record. Rights holders may contact Vantabean through the in-product “Report image” function.
Prohibited use
You may not upload content that infringes copyright, privacy, publicity or other rights; misrepresents its source; contains unlawful or inappropriate material; or circumvents moderation. A false confirmation may lead to removal of the image or restriction of the account.
Community rules
Do not upload unlawful, abusive, hateful, deceptive, invasive, sexually explicit or infringing content. Do not attempt to bypass access controls, scrape private data, overload the service, manipulate ratings, or use Vantabean for spam or harassment. We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these rules.
Reports, moderation and appeals
You can report a post from its action menu. You can also hide a post, mute a person or block an account without sending a report. Reports are reviewed by an authorised moderator and may result in no action, a warning, restricted visibility, removal or account restrictions. Affected users may ask for a review through in-product support. We keep an audit trail of moderation decisions to prevent inconsistent or unauthorised action.
Recommendations and organic ranking
The personalised feed primarily uses recency, content variety, accounts you follow, coffee relevance and your explicit saves or taste filters. It also spreads repeated authors and content types so one source does not dominate. You can influence the result by following or muting people, hiding posts, changing filters and choosing list or grid mode. Paid placement does not improve organic rank.
Business profiles and verification
A roastery or café profile can be claimed only by someone authorised to represent that business. The claimant must provide accurate contact and business information. Vantabean may request additional evidence, reject a claim, revoke verification or transfer control when ownership changes. Verification confirms that Vantabean reviewed the claim; it is not an endorsement of quality, solvency or products.
Verified organisations can give team members owner, admin, editor or analyst access. The organisation is responsible for those invitations and for removing access when it is no longer appropriate. Community brews and ratings remain attributable to their users. A business cannot rewrite or suppress community opinions merely because it controls the factual profile.
Business Pro and payment
Business Pro is offered to organisations acting for commercial purposes. The checkout shows the price, currency, billing interval, taxes where applicable and renewal terms before purchase. Payments and card details are handled by Stripe; Vantabean does not store complete card numbers. Unless checkout says otherwise, a subscription renews for the same billing period until cancelled.
An owner or admin can cancel or manage billing through Business Studio. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period unless the billing portal states otherwise. Profile ownership and factual profile management remain available without a paid plan. Access to paid analytics and campaign submission ends when the paid entitlement expires. Statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.
Promoted placements
Promoted placements are reviewed before publication and appear with a prominent “Sponsored” label, the verified business name and an explanation of why the placement is shown. Advertisers must provide truthful, lawful material and have rights to the creative. Vantabean may reject, pause or remove a campaign and provide a decision reason.
Targeting is limited to coarse coffee context such as country, city, brew method or roast level. Vantabean does not permit targeting based on sensitive personal data and does not sell private brew histories to advertisers. Political advertising and advertising directed through profiling known minors are not accepted.
Product data and AI scanning
Product facts and images are treated separately. Vantabean may use AI or a product URL to help identify coffee information, but it will not copy the source image into the public database without documented permission. When no approved image exists, Vantabean uses a neutral placeholder.
Roaster, cafe and product information
Bean, roaster, cafe, price and availability information may be incomplete or change over time. Vantabean does not guarantee that product information is current, and users should confirm commercial details with the relevant business.
Availability and account closure
Vantabean is a growing service and may experience interruptions, maintenance or feature changes. We cannot promise uninterrupted availability or that every scan, recommendation or map result is accurate. You may delete your account through Manage account. We may suspend or close accounts that materially breach these terms or create a security risk.
Liability and governing law
To the extent permitted by law, Vantabean is not responsible for indirect loss, lost profits, inaccurate community content, changing café information or a business decision made solely from aggregated analytics. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law. Norwegian law applies, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where a user lives.
Changes
Vantabean may update these terms and records the confirmation version accepted for public uploads and paid checkout. Material changes will be presented before they take effect where required. Contact VEDØY VENTURES through the in-product support or reporting channel with questions.
